Operation Iraqi Freedom. A carefully thought-out name. It guarantees the association between the war and "freedom." A non-subliminal way to imprint upon viewers the message that this is a war to liberate the Iraqi people. Is it coverage or propaganda? When did American television journalists start calling them "our" troops? Does one balance "anti-war" protests by covering "pro-troop" rallies? Isn't the war itself the opposite of "anti-war?" Embeds. Opportunity for inside reporting or controlled access? Where are the weapons? | ||
